Doug Blank, M.D., FACC

Advanced Heart Failure Heart Transplant Specialist

I am Board Certified in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplantation, as well as, General Cardiology.  I enjoy all aspects of cardiology but have a passion for the advanced heart failure patient.  I came to Idaho Falls shortly after Dr. Chambers and I completed a Cardiology Fellowship together at the University of Nebraska.  This has turned out to be a great decision, as I saw an opportunity to start a Heart Failure program here in Idaho Falls and was able to bring this important service to the community.

I enjoy helping the advanced heart failure patient improve. There is nothing more satisfying than watching the patients normalize their heart function. I love sitting down and talking to patients and their families about their health issues.  Explaining the work up, diagnosis, and treatment plans is very important for successful outcome.

Idaho Heart Institute is a well-rounded program with very experienced partners.  All areas of cardiology are covered by our group in the clinic and local hospitals. I want to continue building our Heart Failure program at Idaho Heart Institute, and strive to continually improve the outpatient programs for our patients.

I am active in the community and continue to be active in Boy Scouts as an Assistant Scoutmaster.  I was very active in local and state hockey programs and served as Vice President for several years and was both Assistant and Head Hockey Coach for Skyline High School for about 12 years.

My family is most important to me; it is one of the reasons we moved to Idaho Falls.  I wanted to spend more time with my wife and children I cannot do that in academic center like the University of Nebraska.  My wife and I love the Idaho Falls area and the people.  Our children grew up here and we have many friends in the community.
